Calling all Writers!

Wye Write, in cooperation with Springwater Public Library, is pleased to announce an exciting initiative for people of all ages interested in the craft of writing.

Beginning June 7, 2016, we invite you to join us at the Elmvale Branch on the first and third Tuesday of each month from 1:00 to 2:30 pm to learn how to inspire and improve your writing.  Sessions will include a ten-minute writing exercise based on a provided prompt, and sharing of homework (usually about a page in length) that is assigned at each meeting.  Since we believe that to grow as a writer one must have fair feedback we will also offer the opportunity to have your short works critiqued with the goal of making your words the best that they can be.

For many years, Wye Write has been writing and learning together, and we are eager to share the knowledge we've acquired with fellow writers.  Having authored four collections of short stories, we have experience with such topics as formatting, marketing, building platforms, writing memoirs and self-publishing.  Our numbers include a novelist, a proficient public speaker, and some who have written for newspapers, magazines and associations.

Please join us for a relaxed and informative afternoon of spinning stories!

New Book Store Coming to Midland

We are very excited to announce that Wye Write's Sandy Dunsford, along with business partner Sarah Kenney, will soon be opening the doors to Georgian Bay Books.

Sandy studied at Wilfred Laurier University and was employed for over 5 years at Coles Books until the recent closure of the chain's Midland location. Sarah worked with Coles for 26 years in total, spending the last 15 in Midland.  During her time with the company she successfully completed a book masters course.

As book lovers themselves, the entrepreneurs understand a reader's need for a well-stocked venue where knowledgeable staff will take the time to learn one's taste and make spot-on recommendations.  They know the magic and joy to be found within a bricks-and-mortar store, the quiet pleasure of getting lost for minutes or even hours browsing shelves for that next treasure.

Sandy and Sarah can't wait to meet and renew ties with local readers so be sure to watch for news of the grand opening at their King Street location.
